Did you know that banana trees aren’t actually trees, but are rather plants related to grasses? Also, bananas themselves are berries. :)

Even more mind-melting facts: Asparagus plants are usually gendered (specific male plants and female plants), otherwise known as dioecious. Furthermore, an asparagus plant can produce for 20 years or more! :)

My parents grew up as migrant farm workers. I’m no stranger to stories of how people utilized every resource available to them “back then” (and even still today, in some places) in myriad ways.

Amen. I’ve lived a few of those myself even though we’re fairly well off.
My parents never liked me climbing mango and coconut trees, or chasing goats, etc
